Some of our clients have serious issues when it comes to consuming excess amounts of sugar. It is not so hard to understand it, because sugar is among the most addictive foods known to people. The first and the most obvious sign of excess sugar consumption is of course the weight. Unfortunately excess weight is always “accompanied” with other health issues. Such as: high blood pressure, lack of sleep, constant fatigue, lack of energy, constant craving for more sugar or any type of carb rich foods, depression, to name a few.

As we were developing Skinny Chocolate concept, what really took us by surprise was that we noticed that some of our clients have some sort of hesitation even fear to even try to reduce sugar intake. As if the sugar were water or air. We noticed some kind of denial pattern, where they speak about sugar the way people would speak about something they don’t feel comfortable talking about. That was when we started to study sugar addiction and how it affects people’s brain, before it even starts damaging the body and ultimately the health.

Let’s quickly recap types of sugar that we consume:

  • Fructose: found in fruits and honey
  • Galactose: found in milk and dairy products
  • Glucose: found in honey, fruits and vegetables
  • Lactose: found in milk, made from glucose and galactose
  • Maltose: found in barley
  • Sucrose: made from sugarcane (table sugar, we use the most)
  • Xylose: found in wood or straw

So after we conducted our studies for few months, we concluded that fighting sugar cravings is not fighting obesity or depression, facial acne or high blood pressure. It is actually fighting an addiction! That probably explains the hesitation and in some cases even fear of cutting, if not quitting added sugar consumption. To summarize the question: Yes, people can still have sweets while taking Skinny Chocolate, but let’s elaborate that statement. Recommended daily intake of added sugar is around 40 grams. To put that in perspective, that is 1 (ONE) can of soda. What makes sugar hard to fight is because added sugar is everywhere: From pizza dough to bread, candy, cakes, cookies, pies and cobblers. sweet rolls, pastries, doughnuts, dairy desserts, such as ice cream and yogurt, sugar sweetened drinks, such as soft drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, juice drinks, ketchup, bbq sauce, granola, chocolate milk, flavored coffee, ice tea, protein bars, canned beans, cereals and the list goes on and on.

As our clients begin with Skinny Chocolate “therapy”, our basic approach is: take Skinny Chocolate 5 minutes right after a meal, but try not to have a desert or fruit beforehand. Then wait for about 7-10 minutes and see if you still crave sweets. If yes, take another bite of Skinny Chocolate. What I want to talk about is that our clients realize very quickly once they start with Skinny Chocolate, that it does not go along with other candies, sweets or desserts. So there is still space for a healthy snack, ice cream, piece of bread or a bagel, one ice tea or a cookie. Preferably NOT every day, but here and there in reasonable quantities. Remember: If you stay of added sugar for few days, it does not mean that you can have it all in one day. But, do not worry, as long as you take Skinny Chocolate as recommended, it will definitively prevent you from taking 60-70+ grams of sugar per day, because it is also an apatite suppressant.
